April 9th, 2012
Class activities for Monday, April 9
Spelling: Students made Words to Learn lists by correcting words they missed on the last spelling test.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students selected a passage from their Literature Circles book to read as a monologue to the class. They also practiced reading aloud with speed, tone and volume.
Writing: Students are working on the next writing piece, the I-Search research project today. Students continued to collect information from the internet and save the information in Google Docs.
This informational project will be due Friday, April 27. Students should be looking for information (books and websites) to answer their research question at this point.
Math: We reviewed two-digit division and started to learn about three-digit division. Homework is to finish Math Book p. 237, problems 10-16, using the partial quotients method learned in class. Students may check their division using the standard method of division if they would like to.
Science: We learned that the earth rotates (spins) once in one day, and revolves (orbits) once around the sun in one year. Students were given a review crossword puzzle that will be due on Thursday.
Social Studies: We learned about different ways the United States is divided into regions, using land, water, climate or direction.
