Class activities for Thursday, September 13
Spelling: We reviewed rules for capital letters today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: We continued to read our shared reading book, Esperanza Rising.
Writing: Students worked on drafting for their current piece of writing. The first piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due on Friday, September 21.
Math: We reviewed fractions and decimals today. Students also learned how to convert a fraction into a decimal by dividing. For example, the fraction 3/5 is 3 divided by 5. Standard division can be used to divide to arrive at a decimal answer. Math book p. 8 has a review of converting fractions into decimals.
Homework is to finish Journal P1-2.
Science: We reviewed matter and energy today, ideas we learned in fourth grade.
Social Studies: None today due to a scheduled math skills time.
Constitution Day is Monday, September 17. Learn why are country doesn’t have kings, how we started the Revolution, and the Preamble to the Constitution.
