Class activities for Monday, October 29
Spelling: We reviewed soft-syllable endings that sound like /er/. Common spelling patterns for this sound are –ar, –or, and –er, as in dollar, color and runner.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Students also received their latest STAR Reading level. Here are the class results:
As you can see above, our class reading level dropped over the summer, but our last test showed improvement since last month, from a level of 5.4 to 5.5. Our class goal is to reach 6.4. You can see all our class goals and progress in our Data Center.
Writing: None today due to our time with technology.
The next piece of writing, a fictionalized personal narrative, will be due on Friday, November 2. Students should be revising at this point.
Math: Students learned about how to use exponents to show repeated multiplication. Homework is to finish Journal P3-4.
Science: We finished an experiment about the respiratory system. Homework is to finish the analyze and conclude questions of the Heartbeats and Breathing experiment.
Social Studies: We reviewed for an upcoming social studies test about American Indian Cultural Regions. A practice test can be found here.
