Class activities for Thursday, March 28

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Students finished performing their monologues today from their last Literature Circles book.

Writing: None today due to the half day schedule. Students have started working on the next writing project, called the I-Search research project (more details here). This informational project will be due Friday, April 26, when students present their findings during our I-Search Conference. Students should be planning their presentation topic at this point and starting to collect information.

Math: None today due to the half day schedule.

Science: None today due to the half day schedule.

Social Studies: None today due to the half day schedule.

Reading: Students performed their monologues today from their last Literature Circles book.

Science: Students review for and completed a test about studying people scientifically.

Social Studies: We started learning about what life was like in colonial America.

Reading: Students started practiced reading a monologue today from their last Literature Circles book. We also performed our class play for the school!

Writing: Students finalized their fiction novel project today. The novel is due Tuesday, March 26.

Math: We practiced adding mixed numbers today. Homework is to finish Journal P10-4 started in class.

Science: None today due to performing our class play.

Social Studies: We added new pages to our notebooks today.

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Students started practiced reading a monologue today from their last Literature Circles book. They will read this passage to the class with good speed, tone, volume and accuracy.

Writing: Students worked on drafting for their fiction novel project today. The novel is due Tuesday, March 26. Each student has their own word count goal to reach during this project. See this previous post for more details. See the chart to the right to see how the class is progressing toward 100% completion of each word count goal.

Math: We practiced adding and subtracting mixed numbers using pictures to help with the operations. Homework is to finish Journal P10-3.

Science: We reviewed our recent science experient analysis questions.

Social Studies: None today due to our math skills time.

  • Our class is performing a play called The Legend of Lightning Larry, based on a story by Aaron Shepard. Performances are tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10, 10:30 and 6:30 pm.
