Class activities for Thursday, September 18
Spelling: We practiced using apostrophes in contractions, but not in possessive pronouns.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays. One easy kind of sentence to write over and over is a pangram (has all letters of the alphabet). Here are two examples:
- The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
- The five boxing wizards jump quickly.
Reading: Today was Fall Field Day for students that returned their summer reading books. Students that didn’t attend practiced reading skills using MobyMax Reading.
Writing: We reviewed choosing the write words in writing by using precise nouns, strong verbs, and choice adjectives. Students also worked on editing their current piece of writing.
A personal narrative is due Monday, September 22. Students should be editing revising at this point, and homework is to finish the personal narrative by Monday.
Math: We practiced writing decimals and fractions using the thousandths place, and we also practiced writing decimals using place value. Students also used MobyMax to practice math skills. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We completed an experiment about voluntary and involuntary muscles. Homework is to finish the “Voluntary and Involuntary Muscles” experiment if not done in class.
Social Studies: None today due to extra time with math.
