Class activities for Thursday, March 26
Spelling: We reviewed common spelling patters for the /oo/ sound.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading skills and AR practice day.
Writing: Students continued to work on the draft of their fiction novel project or to start revising.
Each student has a daily writing goal of 150-400 words. The novel project is due Friday, March 27. Students should be nearing the end of their draft and be ready to start revising soon. Check StudentVue for your student’s progress.
Math: Today students completed a STAR Math test.
Here are recent skills that should be finished:
It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.
Science: Students completed the Net Force Challenge experiment today. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-5 on p. 40.
Social Studies: Students completed a test about facing slavery today.
Notes:
- Tomorrow is the Read-a-Thon fundraiser. Students can bring in donations for 5th grade camp. Students can also bring a pillow, blanket, snack, drink, and books to read.
- Our next play practice is Monday, March 26 from 4-6. This is a dress rehearsal; students please wear your costume. This is our final practice.
- Our class play, The Legend of Lightning Larry, will be on March 31. Here is the practice schedule. Our shows are at 10 am, 10:30 am, and 6:30 pm. Students please arrive at 5:45 on the night of the performance.
