April 29th, 2015
Class activities for Wednesday, April 29
Spelling: Students made Words to Learn lists by correcting words missed on the last spelling test.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: None today due to art.
Writing: Students continued to work on their digital I-Search presentation slides and also completed editing conferences. The project is due on May 1. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on May 1. Here is the conference schedule.
Math: Students continued to work on fraction addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Here are recent and upcoming skills from Khan Academy:
It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.
Science: We used a computer simulation (click here to launch the simulation) to learn that the reason we have different temperatures, seasons, and amounts of daylight is due to the tilt of the earth’s axis in space. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-7 on p. 31.
Social Studies: We learned about the Proclamation of 1763, the Quartering Act, and the Stamp Act–laws that took freedoms from the colonists or increased taxes, without any kind of representation.
