Class activities for Thursday, September 24
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Cursive worksheet pp. 4-6 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: Today we started to practice making connections to something a text reminded us of. We’ll continue this more next week.
Writing: None today due to discussing poor behavior choices by many in the class. We’ve had to practice lining up quietly, lining up quickly, pushing our chairs in, walking in the hallway quietly, and knowing when to listen and when to speak. Interruptions and lack of self-control are things are class is really struggling with, and it may take some significant practice during recess to work the kinks out. We’ll be starting that practice next week.
That unfortunately left no time for writing, so students will need to work extra at home.
A personal narrative is due Monday, September 28. Students should be ready to edit their story for spelling, capitals, and other things to help make their writing easier to read. Students can work on their story from home by going to docs.mrhowd.com.
Math: None this afternoon due to the abundance of distracting choices. Hopefully next week we’ll have some solutions we can try to use our math time more wisely.
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: None today due to extra time with social studies. We’ll have extra science time next week.
Social Studies: We read a story called, Ox-Cart Man, about a family that used natural resources to produce goods, which they exchanged for money, that they spent on tools, to help them produce more goods year after year. Students took notes about examples of economics they found in the book. Homework is to finish the Ox-Cart Man Literature Connection notes if not done in class.
