Class activities for Thursday, June 2

Spelling: Students used letter cards to form words with common /ow/ spelling patterns: ow, ou.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles and all groups finished reading their novels today.

Writing: Students completed editing conferences today for their Find It, Decide It compare and contrast project. The Find It, Decide It project is due Friday, June 3. Homework is to finish any final work left on this project; some groups haven’t worked enough yet and have a lot unfinished. You may want to check with your student and have them show you what they have done.

Math: None today due to extra time with science. We’ll be working on geometry this week and next. Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.

Science: We learned about how fossils give us information about the past. Some fossils show that life was different in the past. A lot of fossils show that life in the past was very similar to life today. We also learned that fossils form by rapid burial during catastrophes (floods, landslides, mudslides, volcanic eruptions).

Social Studies: We learned that the US can be divided into regions, and all the states in a region have at least one thing in common, such as landforms or climate. Homework is to finish the Mystery Regions note page started in class.
