Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
We finished our money lessons today by talking about how higher education usually leads to higher earnings. Students, go to college!
We also reviewed some health ideas about ways to say no to unhealthy choices, about remembering there is always a choice, and about not getting into cars driven by people who have been drinking.
Students also published their novels today. Go to lulu.com and search for your student’s name! Buy their novel! Use promo code ONEFIVE and get 15% off (ends tomorrow).

We learned about investing today. We talked about different rates of return and risks, from CDs to bonds to stocks. We learned that if a person invests $200 a month, starting at 20 years old and continuing throughout their working life, they will end up a millionaire!
We also talked about the deception of advertisements for alcohol, tobacco, and vaping. We learned that vaping is healthier than smoking, but still contains dangerous chemicals, including nicotine, formaldehyde, pesticides, and antifreeze! Vaping is better than smoking in the same way a bee sting is better than a wolf bite–both of them are harmful.

Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
We learned about credit cards today, how to use them wisely, how to pay them off in full each month, and how dangerous they can be if people buy more than they can afford.
We also learned about the dangers of tobacco today. Here’s a video that shows how contaminated a person’s lungs can get from smoking a pack a day for a month.
Beyond the health concerns, we calculated how much money is wasted on cigarettes. A person smoking a pack a day would spend…
If that person invested that $200 a month instead of buying cigarettes, they would have $36,000 after 10 years, and almost a MILLION dollars after 40 years! Smoking kills health and bank accounts.
