Cursive: There are no more cursive assignments this year.
Reading: We read books from the Epic library. You can purchase a summer subscription to Epic for $3. That will give your student plenty of books to read. They can read on a tablet or their chromebook, and can even download books to read in the car. Use code SUMMER19 (expires June 11) to get the summer for $3.
Writing: Students worked on publishing their novel today. We will start the cover design next week.
Math: We worked on converting customary units today. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy. Final math grades are due Saturday, so this is the final week to complete unfinished math skills.
Science: We have completed science for the year.
Social Studies: We talked saving money in a bank that will pay interest, and to save money as soon as you get it. We also learned that Americans aren’t always smart with money:
- Only about half of Americans give to charity
- About 80% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, because…
- Only about 30% of Americans save at least 10% of their check, and,
- Only about 30% of Americans have an emergency fund.
- Americans owe $4 trillion in debt and the average credit card balance is $4,000, which will take 30 years to pay off and $10,000 in interest if only paying the minimum payment.
