October 10th, 2019
Spelling: None today due to extra time with science.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 13-15 are available and are due Friday.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles. Students read about the origins of the Ferris Wheel and wrote notes about their reading.
Writing: We talked about using the right word in the right spot, and to be specific. That makes writing sound more interesting and realistic.
Students also worked on editing or publishing today.
A personal narrative is due Sunday, October 13. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Your student should be editing or ready to publish by now.
Math: We started our new topic about addition, subtraction, and estimation. Today we practiced rounding.
Science: We practiced writing a scientific argument that includes a claim, evidence, and why the evidence matters.
Social Studies: We learned about how different levels of government have different powers.
Character Strength: We are learning about giving other people our attention this week. This is part of the #OtherPeopleMatter mindset.
