Class activities for Friday, October 11
Spelling: None today due to time spent working on our Leadership Notebooks. Today, students worked on a page with their favorites as a way to teach others about themselves.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 13-15 are available and were due today.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: We talked about using precise nouns so that the reader understands what you mean. Don’t say “car booklet,” say “instruction manual.” Say “rust,” not “brown stuff.”
Students also worked on publishing today.
A personal narrative is due Sunday, October 13. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Your student should a full page personal narrative finished by Sunday morning.
Math: We practiced rounding again today. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We read about how geologists use clues from rocks and fossils to infer that environments in the past were different than the present. A preset-day desert could have been a rain forest, ocean, or swamp in the past.
Social Studies: We had a leader lesson today about stopping and thinking. Proactive students stop and think at a difficult situation so they know how to make a choice that doesn’t cause problems.
Character Strength: We are learning about giving other people our attention this week. This is part of the #OtherPeopleMatter mindset.
