Class activities for Friday, December 13

Spelling: Students practiced writing possessive pronouns: yours, ours, his, hers, mine, theirs. We talked about how possessive pronouns don’t use apostrophes.

Cursive: Cursive pp. 39-41 are available and were due today.

Reading: We started a topic about fantasy stories.

Writing: We worked on publishing today.

A fiction story is due Sunday, December 15. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Your student should be publishing their story so it is finished and ready to read.

Math: Students completed a STAR Math test today. Here is our progress so far:

Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We used a simulation to notice that a predator might use marking on its prey to know if a prey was safe to eat. It would need to have enough light to see the markings. We also reviewed how the structures of the eye let light through the pupil, to light receptors, which send a message through the optical nerve to the brain.

Social Studies: We worked on a leader lesson about setting goals.

Character Strength: We are learning about humility this week.

  • Our Mexican Fiesta is Friday, December 20 from 9 am until noon. Family members are welcome and needed for food preparation, set up and clean up in the morning during the party. Here is our volunteer and guest list. Family members, due to the limited size of our classroom and the amount of food we have, we are not able to accommodate younger siblings.
