Class activities for Friday, May 15
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading skills and AR practice day. Students also received a copy of their latest STAR Reading level results. Our class results are shown below. We wanted to reach 6.0 grade level as a stretch goal, and we did!
Writing: Today, we talked about using metaphors in poems: my house is a jungle, school is a pinball game.
Students also continued to work on their collection of poems, due Friday, May 22.
Math: We worked on fraction skills today in MobyMax Math.

It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.
Science: Today was a Jet Toy Challenge work day. Students worked on testing the balloon-jet engines for their cars.
Social Studies: We learned the main ideas of the Declaration of Independence. We’ll have a MiniQuiz about this next week.
