June 2nd, 2015
Class activities for Tuesday, June 2
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: There will be no new cursive assignments this year.
Reading: None today due to extra time with math.
Writing: We continued to work on editing novels to prepare for publishing.
Math: Math this week will consist of a final push to master any remaining skills for fractions, volume, and shapes.
Here are the final topics of 5th grade:
It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.
Science: We used toilet paper to model how far apart the planets are in our solar system. If the sun was at the beginning of the roll, Pluto would be 200 toilet paper squares away. Except for the inner rocky planets, most planets are very, very far from each other.
Social Studies: We reviewed the second and fifth amendments to the constitution.
