November 9th, 2015
Class activities for Monday, November 9
Spelling: Students continued making Words to Learn lists by correcting words they missed on the last spelling test.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 22-24 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: Due to the large drop in our last class average STAR Reading level, the class wanted a chance to retake the test, and we did that today.
Writing: Today was the first day of prewriting for our next piece of writing, a fiction story. Today, we reviewed different styles and elements of fiction writing. Students also started making a list of their favorite stories and movies; this should probably be the type of story your student tries to write. This fiction story will be due Monday, November 30.
Math: We practiced looking for a rule to explain the pattern in a series of numbers. Today was also the final day to work on these skills:
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: Students finished an experiment about making an electrical circuit with one battery, one wire, and one bulb. Homework is to finish this experiment if not done in class.
Social Studies: Students worked with their team to write ideas about how supply, demand, and price are connected.
