Spelling: None today due to our field trip to see High School Musical.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Some groups worked on determining importance as a reading strategy.

Writing: Students worked on finalizing their I-Search research project presentations. This informational project will be due Friday, April 26, when students present their findings during our I-Search Conference. Students should be finishing their presentations at this point. View the conference schedule here. I’ve asked students to wear something nice on Friday for their presentations.

Math: None today due to our field trip to see High School Musical.

Science: Students completed a district science test about studying people scientifically.

Math: We reviewed for tomorrow’s math test about adding and subtracting mixed numbers.

Science: None today due to our math skills time.

Social Studies: We learned about the start of the tensions between colonists and the British government that began after the French and Indian War.

Reading: Students received new informational magazines for Literature Circles.

Writing: Students worked on their I-Search research project presentations. This informational project will be due Friday, April 26, when students present their findings during our I-Search Conference. Students should be working on their presentations at this point.

Math: Students completed a MiniQuiz about subtracting mixed numbers.

Science: The class designed and completed experiments to test how the mass of a cart affects the force of a collision. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-4 on p. 20.

Social Studies: Students completed a test about colonial life.

Reading: None today due to extra time with social studies.

Writing: Students worked on their I-Search research project presentations. This informational project will be due Friday, April 26, when students present their findings during our I-Search Conference. Students should be working on their presentations at this point.

Math: None today due to a camp cabin meeting.

Science: We reviewed our last experiment about how speed is shown on motion graphs. We also completed a class experiment about how speed affects collisions.

Social Studies: We learned that the Great Awakening helped people change their attitudes toward religion and other people. Citizens stopped paying taxes to the official church and could choose their own. Everyone was treated better, instead of giving special treatment to the powerful and wealthy. Homework  is to finish notebook p. 54. We will have a test tomorrow about colonial life. Here is a practice test for study.
