Class activities for Friday, June 2

Language Arts: Today students worked with Mr. Weiss to complete a peer response activity. Students read a piece of writing from a fourth grader, and had to write their thoughts on the strengths of the writing.
Students also finished working on their collection of poems and submitted them to their portfolios. We have tentatively (still awaiting bus approval) scheduled a Poetry Slam at Border’s Book Store on Miller Road for Tuesday, June 6, from noon to 2:30 pm. Students will read their poetry in the Border’s Cafe. Click here to find the permission slip, and let me know if you are willing to chaperone for the trip.
Technology: Students continued to work on their PowerPoint digital yearbook.
Reading: Students took a final reading test today. A remaining grade will consist of a review of Literature Circle notebooks.
Art: Students had art today and worked on detailed drawings of an imaginary tree house.
Social Studies: We reviewed the homework assignment from Wednesday concerning French explorers, forts, the fur trade, the French and Indian War, Pontiac’s Rebellion and the Proclamanion of 1763.
Notes:
- End of the Year Pot Luck! Our class will be having a Pot Luck lunch on Thursday, June 8, starting at 1:00 pm. Students volunteered to bring a main dish, side dish, dessert, drink or utensils. Ask your student what they volunteered, and let me know if there are any adjustments that need to be made. We would love for you to come eat with us, and watch or help with our crazy games!
