Class activities for Monday, December 11
Spelling: Today was a word preview; students practiced spelling words that will be on a future spelling test. Students also received the unit 5 spelling worksheets. Visit the spelling page to download a copy.
Cursive: Cursive worksheets pp. 48-50 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles. We also read our shared book, Esperanza Rising.
Writing: None today due to technology. Students should be drafting for their next piece of writing, some type of narrative (personal or fiction), due December 22.
Math: We reviewed solving number stories, then looked at true and false number sentences. Homework is to finish journal pp. 65-66.
Science: We read in our book about the danger of using electricity near water, climbing electrical equipment, overloading circuits, sticking objects in outlets other than electrical plugs, and using damaged cords. We also watched a video clip from the movie, “A Christmas Story,” in which the father plugs a lamp into an overloaded circuit and causes a fire.
Social Studies: We read lesson three of chapter one about Michigan’s natural resources: soil, copper, iron, salt, and limestone.
- Yellows: 3 magnets
- Oranges: 0 magnets
- Reds: 1 magnet
Ask your student what kind of choices they made.
- Juice Volunteers for Friday, December 8: Kori and Abbey. Click here for a full list of juice volunteers.
- Grand Blanc Lanes field trip coming soon! Click here for details.
- We are looking for donations of medium and short cardboard tubes (have plenty of short ones, thanks!) for class projects. The tubes can be sent in any time during the year; this project will be on-going. Thanks for any help you can give!
