Spelling: Today we reviewed sounds made by the spelling patterns, ck, ch, co and ce

Cursive: Cursive pages 35-37 are available and due Friday.

Reading: Today was a Literature Circles reading day.

Writing: None today due to technology. The next piece of writing is due November 28.

Math: Today we reviewed data landmarks by playing a game. Homework is to complete a data landmarks worksheet.

Science: We started an experiment to design a circuit with a switch and will finish this tomorrow.

Social Studies: We took notes today in our minibooks about the West. We will have a test over US Regions on Wednesday.

Class activities for Friday, November 2

Spelling: Today was the Unit 3 word preview. Look for a Words to Learn list from Unit 2 to come home on Monday.

Cursive: Cursive pages 32-34 were due today. Sadly, approximately 12 students chose to work on their cursive during their recess, instead of having their cursive done during the week. Ask your student what choices they made.

Reading: Today was a Literature Circles discussion day.

Writing: Today was the final publishing day for the final piece of writing of the marking period. The next piece of writing is due November 28.

Math: Today was a MiniQuiz over the data landmarks: maximum, minimum, range, mode and median. We also had Math Skills. Ask your student what they were working on today!

Science: We reviewed our experiment from Monday about different ways to connect the parts of a circuit. We also had Science Inquiry today. Students explored magnets, electricity, weight and designing ramps.

Social Studies: None on Fridays. We will have a test over US Regions on Tuesday.

Spelling: Today was the Unit 2 spelling and skill test. The Unit 2 spelling packet will be due tomorrow.

Cursive: Cursive pages 32-34 are available and due tomorrow. 

Reading: Today was a Literature Circles reading day. Some groups practicing writing open-ended questions.

Writing: We practiced writing precise nouns (instruction manual, not car booklet, rust, not brown stuff). Today was a publishing day. The final writing piece of the marking period is due tomorrow, November 2.

Math: We reviewed the data landmarks: maximum, minimum, range, mode and then added an new one, median. Homework is to complete Math Boxes 2.6 and StudyLink 2.6.

Science: None today due to library.

Social Studies: We finished talking about the West and learned that it is famous for Alaska, Hawaii, timber and gold. A MiniQuiz over the Southwest will be tomorrow.
