Class activities for Wednesday, February 27

Family members, please add your thoughts to our weekly blog post entitled, Is stealing ever ok? Check out the article and scroll to the bottom to post a comment!

Spelling: We shuffled letters to change words into new words.

Cursive: No new cursive assignment this week.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Some groups worked on chunking unfamiliar words to make them easier to read.

Writing: Today was an editing day. Due to the prevalence of poor behavior choices throughout the day, we only had time to read and discuss a picture book, Scarecrow, by Cynthia Rylant. A piece of fiction is due February 29.

Math: We played a game to practice for the math test tomorrow. The test will assess:

  • metric measurement
  • decimal addition and subtraction
  • comparing and ordering decimals
  • metric unit conversion

Science: We reviewed the shadows experiment from earlier in the week.

Social Studies: Students made new minibooks for both the Underground Railroad and Europeans Arrive in Michigan.

Behavior Update:

  • Yellow magnets: 1
  • Orange magnets: 2
  • Red magnets: 0
  • STAR Awards: 0
  • Current Hours with No Orange Magnets: 1

Check your student’s Personal and Social Growth grade at SnapGrades to see if your student moved their magnet.
