April 22nd, 2008
Class activities for Tuesday, April 22
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of at least seven words each are due Friday.
Reading: Today students practiced reading plays from their magazines to share with the class. The plays will be presented on Friday; students are practicing reading with good voice and expression.
Writing: During this final week of work on their I-Search projects (click here for more details), students should be…
- organizing their research on their I-Search 2008 class wiki pages,
- spell checking their presentations using SpellCheck.net,
- searching UnitedStreaming or the web for related images, and
- working on their presentation saved on MrHowd.com Google Docs (docs.mrhowd.com). This presentation can be edited from school and home.
A summary of the project:
Students will research their I-Search question using print and internet sources and create a digital presentation using PowerPoint or MrHowd.com Google Docs presentation software. Students are collecting their research on our I-Search 2008 class wiki. Later, students will present their findings to other students who sign up to attend their talk. The presentation slides will be turned in to portfolios for a writing grade.
The I-Search presentation is due April 25, and will be presented Monday morning, April 28. Students should be adding information to their MrHowd.com Google Docs presentation by this time.
Math: Students were shown how to divide using the standard method of division. Homework is to complete a division worksheet. I told students they could choose to solve the problems with the standard method or partial quotients method of division.
Science: None due to library.
Social Studies: We graded the review worksheets from yesterday and students completed a test over Europeans arriving in Michigan.
