***A guest teacher was with us Friday, so those activities are included in today’s post.***
Spelling: Friday students reviewed short and long vowel sounds. No spelling today due to discussing Friday’s activities when the guest teacher was with us. A spelling and skill test will be tomorrow.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 18-20 were due today.
Reading: Friday students practiced making connections (When the book says ______, it reminds me of ________.) Today, we practicing visualizing by drawing illustrations that match a part of the text.

The first piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due Friday, September 26. Your student should be revising by now.
Math: Friday, students made different sided polygons (pentagons, hexagons, etc.) with rubberbands on geoboards. Students started working on the Geometric Designs activity about coloring different polygons. Today, we reviewed the names for different sided polygons. Students started to work on the Hidden Polygons activity (click here to download), to find various polygons in triangular graph paper. Hint: some polygons are formed along the edges!
Homework is to finish both pages by Wednesday.
Science: We collected the Dropping In response sheet for a grade, made sound minibooks, and took notes in our new minibooks.
