Class activities for Tuesday, September 23 and Wednesday, September 24
***A guest teacher was with us Tuesday afternoon, so those activities are included in today’s post.***
Spelling: Tuesday was the Unit 1 spelling test. No spelling today due to library.
Cursive: Students completed a cursive quiz today.
Reading: Tuesday, students practicing picking passages and telling their group why they picked those passages. Today, students were placed into Literature Circles groups, based on reading level. Literature Circles will start tomorrow. Also, a paper was sent home today explaining your student’s STAR reading level. You can also see this score on SnapGrades.
Writing: Yesterday and today, students continued to work on their personal narrative piece of writing due Friday. Students should be editing (checking spelling, capitals, etc.) or writing their final copy by now.The first piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due Friday, September 26.
Math: Yesterday, students reviewed polygon names and attributes. Homework was to finish a puzzle page started in class. Today, we reviewed the polygon homework. There will be a MiniQuiz over angles and polygons tomorrow. Note that only 10 students completed the math homework. Ask your student if they were one of the responsible 10.
Homework is to complete StudyLink 1.6 about defining polygons.
Science: Yesterday, students completed two science experiments to see that vibrations cause sounds. Today we reviewed those experiments and collected them for a grade.
Social Studies: None today due to library.
