Class activities for Thursday, January 29
Spelling: None today due to math facts tests.
Cursive: We’ve finished our review of the upper and lowercase cursive alphabet. For the remainder of the year, students’ weekly assignment will consist of 10 cursive sentences, with seven or more words each, due on Fridays.
Reading: Literature Circles groups continued to practice reading plays from their magazines, using good voice and expression. Two groups performed their plays today, and the remainder of the groups will perform tomorrow.
Writing: Students created their own Choose Your Own Adventure websites today at sites.mrhowd.com. They also started their draft of a Choose Your Own Adventure fiction story. This piece will be due February 13. An example of the Choose Your Own Adventure genre can be found here and here.
Math: We reviewed showing fractions with base 10 blocks and moved to linking fractions and decimals. Homework is to finish Journal p. 80.
Science: We wrote notes about magnets in our minibooks and reviewed for the magnets science test, which will be tomorrow.
Social Studies: Groups continued to work on their Tour of Michigan scripts and their “windows.” Tomorrow, we will take a “tour of Michigan” and each team will teach the class about their assigned features of Michigan. Homework is to finish up scripts and illustrated “windows.”
