Class activities for Wednesday, March 31

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Spelling: None today due to our Space Fashion Show.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today, students read their monologues to the class.

Writing: None today due to our Space Fashion Show.

We will begin work on our  I-Search project after spring break. Here are more details about the I-Search project.

Math: Today, we practiced multiplication facts for the Multiplication Madness competition on Thursday at 11 am in the small gym.

Science: Today was the Space Fashion Show! Models and announcers did a great job putting on an entertaining and informational fashion show. Look for pictures and videos soon.

Social Studies: Students completed a MiniQuiz over US regions.

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today, students practiced reading their selected passage focusing on speed, tone and volume. Students will read their passages to the class as a monologue.

Writing: Students shared their  I-Search topics with the class and started working on selecting a question to research. We also went to the library and students looked for books about their topics. Here are more details about the I-Search project.

Math: Today, we practiced multiplication facts for the Multiplication Madness competition on Thursday at 11 am in the small gym. Students also completed a 100 facts multiplication test.

Science: Students worked in their groups to finish their  Space Fashion Show script. Here is more about this project. The Space Fashion Show will be tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10am in the small gym.

Social Studies: We finished learning about scarcity of water in the Colorado River Basin and talked about how human changes to the environment can be good and bad.

Spelling: Today was a preview of upcoming spelling words.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today, students selected a passage from their recent Literature Circles book to read to the class as a monologue. Students will practice reading with good speed, tone and volume.

Writing: Students printed their novels today. We also began the I-Search research project. Here are more details. Homework is for each student to select a general topic of research (cats, dogs, snakes, Presidents, vacation spots, dinosaurs, sports, basketball, Vikings, etc.)

Math: Today, we graded math homework from last week.

Science: Students worked in their groups to write their  Space Fashion Show script. Here is more about this project. The Space Fashion Show will be on Wednesday at 10am in the small gym.

Social Studies: Students read about present-day water users in the Colorado River Basin and how there might not be enough water for people in the future.

Reading: Today, students worked on their Literature Circles project to share their book with the class.

Writing: Students continued to work on their novel today. Each student has a daily word goal of 130-350 words. Ask your student how many words they’ve written so far! The novel is due Monday, March 29.

Math: None today due to the half-day schedule.

Science: We reviewed what we have learned about the sun, moon and earth today. Students also formed groups to start the Space Fashion Show! Here is more about this project.
