Class activities for Thursday, May 6

Spelling: None today due to extra time with writing.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: None today due to art.

Writing: Students continued to work on poetry today.

A collection of poems is due into portfolios on Friday, May 21.

Math: We started a unit on division today by using multiples of 10 to count up to a number. For example, to solve 52/4, we can calculate that 10 [4s] =  40, and 3 more [4s] = 12, that means that 13 [4s] = 52. Homework is to finish Journal pp. 147-148.

Science: Students worked on an Investigation Review to think about animal and plant needs. Homework is to finish the Investigation Review if not done in class.

Social Studies: We reviewed the idea that specialization is each person having their own job or skill. To test specialization, each team used an assembly line to create paper snowmen. One team did not specialize and each person made their own snowmen. We learned that the assembly line specialization made it quicker and easier to get the job done.
