Class activities for Friday, May 21

Spelling: We learned that some English words (vocal, vocabulary, advocate, provoke, revoke)  are made from Latin base words (vocare meaning “to call”). Knowing the Latin base word helps to understand the English word.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.

Writing: Students worked on editing conferences and publishing today.

A collection of poems is due into portfolios on Monday, May 24.

Math: None on Fridays.

Science: We reviewed a district unit test about electricity and magnetism.

Social Studies: We discussed public goods and services provided by the government for the common good and to protect citizens and their individual rights.
