Class activities for Monday, December 6
Spelling: None due to getting new seats and electing team captains.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students practiced reading their monologue passage with speed, tone and volume.
Writing: We talked about using recurring details, such as a detail introduced in the beginning and brought back at the end, to add balance to a piece of writing. Students also worked on drafting today.
Our next piece of writing, a fiction piece, is due Monday, December 17. Students should be drafting at this time.
Math: Students practiced sorting polygons by their properties. Homework is to complete Journal pp. 82-84.
Science: We reviewed the district Life Science test that was completed last week.
Social Studies: We learned about Francisco Coronado and Jacques Cartier, two explorers of the New World.
