Class activities for Monday, September 16
Spelling: None today.
You can find our yearly 500 word list here. Words will be selected from this list for each test. Students will not know which words will be tested. Find out more on our spelling page.
Cursive: We’ll start cursive soon.
Reading: Today we reviewed manners for taking care of books by performing class skits about not ripping, throwing, writing, or bending books.
Writing: None today due to our technology time. Today, we started to learn about computer programming using JavaScript. Ask your student to show you their creation!
Our first writing piece, a personal narrative, is due Friday, September 20. The personal narrative should be written about a memory or true event in each student’s life. Your student is using MrHowd.com Google Docs to write the story. They can work from home; have them show you what they’ve got so far.
Math: We reviewed writing multiplication sentences and showing repeated addition as multiplication. Homework is to finish Journal P1-1 started in class.
Science: We reviewed forms of energy today. We also talked about the Energy Fair, which will be on Friday, September 27. Here are more details about the Energy Fair.
Social Studies: We learned that, when things are scarce, people can’t have everything they want, so they have to make choices. There is an opportunity cost when people make a choice.
