Class activities for Monday, October 7

Spelling: We started to make Words to Learn lists. This will be a list of words missed on the last spelling test that can be studied for future tests.

Cursive: Cursive workbook pp. 24-27 are due on Friday.

Reading: Today we started to place everyone into a Literature Circles group. This will be a group of students that will read and discuss the same book, usually for about a month. Groups will change after a month, new Literature Circles groups will form, and and new books will read.

Writing: None today due to an assembly about bullying.

The second piece of writing for the year is another personal narrative. This personal narrative is due Friday, October 11. Your student should be nearing the end of their draft and getting ready to revise at this time.

Math: We practiced using multiplication facts to help solve division facts. Homework is to finish Journal P1-9. Some students are still struggling with mastering multiplication and division facts. Using Math Facts in a Flash or MobyMax Fact Master for just 5-10 minutes each night will make a big difference!

Science: We wrote notes in our minibooks about magnetic metals and materials, temporary and permanent magnets, and how the force of a magnet can go through thin, non-magnetic materials.

Social Studies: We started to learn about how scarcity causes people to make choices about what to make, how make products, and what to buy.

Behavior Update:

  • Yellow magnets: 1
  • Orange magnets: 0
  • Red magnets: 0
  • STAR Awards: 0
  • Magnets moved this week (goal: TBD): 1

Check your student’s Personal and Social Growth grade online to see if your student moved their magnet.
