November 12th, 2013
Class activities for Tuesday, November 12
Spelling: Students worked on making Words to Learn lists from words missed on the last spelling test.
Reading: Students completed a STAR Reading test today.
Writing: We talked about using visual details to describe what characters look like. A common way fourth graders try this is to describe what a characters is wearing, but that is only helpful if the clothes matter to the story. It is more interesting to describe what a character looks like and acts like, using several details or even an entire paragraph for the important characters.
Our next piece of writing is a fiction story, due Friday, November 22. Your students should be drafting at this time.
Math: Students completed a math placement test today in MobyMax Math.
Science: Students completed a MiniQuiz today about electrical circuits, and also made an electricity minibook for recording notes.
Social Studies: We talked about how supply and demand affect prices.
