Class activities for Wednesday, February 5
Spelling: Students started making Words to Learn lists from words missed on the last test.
Cursive: Cursive workbook pp. 66-68 are due Friday.
Reading: Students continued practicing Reader’s Theatre plays to share their Literature Circles books with the class.
Writing: We talked about how to conclude a literary essay: (1) restate the theme and (2) tell the reader something that was learned from reading the book.
Students continued to draft or revise their literary essay. Here are the main parts of a literary essay:
- Introduction with the name of the book, summary, and the theme of the book
- At least three examples from the book that support and prove the theme
- A conclusion that restates the theme and what can be learned from the book
A literary essay is due Friday, February 7. Students should be finished with their draft and ready to revise their essay at this point.
Math: We practiced multiplying tens and hundreds today. Journal P5-1 is the corresponding journal page. Homework is to work on MobyMax Math or Khan Academy to practice math.
