Class activities for Thursday, November 13
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: None today due to the half day schedule.
Writing: None today due to the half day schedule. A fiction story is due Friday, November 21. Your student should be revising by now.
Math: Students worked on math skills using MobyMax today.
Here are some of the skills we’ve been working on lately. These would be good skills to practice at home.
- Multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits with area models
- Multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits
- Multi-digit multiplication
- Powers of ten
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We made dogs today! Students modeled how traits are passed from parents to offspring by randomly drawing a section of “DNA” code. The code represented a trait, such as eye color, ear shape, leg length, or fur type. Based on the code, each pair drew their dog. We learned that each dog was unique; each dog had at least one trait in common with another dog, but no dog was identical.
Social Studies: None today due to the half day schedule.
