December 2nd, 2014
Class activities for Tuesday, December 2
Spelling: We reviewed common spelling patterns for the /s/ sound: ss, s, sc, ce, ci, cy.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students completed a STAR Reading test today.
Writing: We talked again about symmetrical stories that have similar details at the beginning and again at the end to create a matching pattern for the reader. Stories that use recurring details like this feel more organized.
Students also continued to work on their draft.
A fiction story is due Monday, December 12. Your student should be nearing the end of their draft at this point
Math: We worked on a class coordinate graph using data from our last science experiment.
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to finish level up on these skills if not done in class:
Science: Students continued to work on a performance task that modeled how traits can help an animal survive in its environment. Today, students started to graph the class data from the experiment.
Social Studies: Some groups shared what they learned about the explorers they studied.
