Class activities for Tuesday, January 27
Spelling: We practiced spelling words that have silent letters and forming plurals by changing the letter f to a v, as in the word wolves or leaves.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: None today due to reviewing how to debate politely, and how to prove opinions using evidence.
Writing: Students selected books today to use for literary essays. We also started prewriting today. Homework is to finish prewriting for the literary essay.
Here’s a sample that we started writing a literary essay together.
A literary essay will be due Friday, February 6.
Math: Students worked on a district math test today. Here are some skills we’ve been working on lately:
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We finished learning about quantitative (can be counted) and qualitative (what something is like) data. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-5 on pp. 35-36.
Social Studies: Students completed a test today about early English settlements.
