Class activities for Tuesday, February 3
Spelling: We reviewed compound words and learned common spelling patterns for the /k/ sound.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles; some groups worked on making connections as a reading strategy.
Writing: Students worked on drafting their essay today. Homework is to finish the draft essay today and be ready to revise tomorrow.

A literary essay will be due Friday, February 6.
Math: We practiced dividing with two-digit divisors today. Students also practiced division using Khan Academy. Here are some skills we’ve been working on lately:
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We discussed last week’s experiments. Students also completed a MiniQuiz about investigations 5-8.
Social Studies: We started to learn about the similarities and differences between the New England, Middle, and Southern colonial regions.
Notes:
- Tomorrow is a late start day. School starts for students at 11:00 am.
- Third marking period report cards are available at StudentVue.
- Middle school course request sheets are due February 13.
- Our class will be performing a play in March, The Legend of Lightning Larry. All students will have a part and will need to be at some after school practices and the performance.
