Class activities for Wednesday, February 25
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students auditioned for parts for our class reader’s theatre play, The Legend of Lightning Larry.
Writing: Today students completed revising conferences. A draft containing these parts should already be completed:
- Introduction describing a public policy problem in America (vaccines, fighting ISIS, body cameras for police officers, healthy foods for schools, etc.).
- Their opinion about a solution to the problem.
- Some kind of data to support their opinion.
- At least one core democratic value to support their opinion.
- A conclusion restating their data and opinion.
A persuasive Letter to the Editor (guidelines) about a public policy issue facing the US will be due Friday, February 27.

Math: We started reviewing multiplying decimals today. We’ll be reviewing this and dividing decimals over the next several days. Here are some skills we’ve been working on lately or will begin soon:

Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.
Science: None today due to 5th grade musical practice.
Social Studies: We finished learning about the types of jobs colonists could have in the 1700s. Homework is to finish notebook p. 42.
Notes:
- The 5th Grade Musical is tomorrow at 7:30 pm. Students should meet in the classroom at 7:15 pm.
- Spring conferences are March 10-12. View or edit your time here. Our class will be performing a play in March, The Legend of Lightning Larry. All students will have a part and will need to be at some after school practices and the performance.
