Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students completed a STAR Reading test today.
Writing: Today was a day to start revising the persuasive letter to the editor. A draft containing these parts should already be completed:
- Introduction describing a public policy problem in America (vaccines, fighting ISIS, body cameras for police officers, healthy foods for schools, etc.).
- Their opinion about a solution to the problem.
- Some kind of data to support their opinion.
- At least one core democratic value to support their opinion.
- A conclusion restating their data and opinion.
A persuasive Letter to the Editor (guidelines) about a public policy issue facing the US will be due Friday, February 27.
Resources:
Math: None today due to rehearsal for the 5th grade musical. Here are some skills we’ve been working on lately:
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.
Science: Students worked on an experiment about measuring the speed of a moving cart and how height of the cart on a ramp affects speed. Homework is to finish calculating speed and average speed in the data table in their science notebook and to complete analysis questions 1-6 on p. 10.
Social Studies: We started to learn about the types of jobs colonists could have in the 1700s.
