Class activities for Monday, March 30

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: In lieu of a final class play practice, we planned how we would help the children of Vanuatu affected by Cyclone Pam. Mrs. Hemond has given us permission to have a “Vanuatu store” where students of our class will sell handmade items for donations. We will give the donations to a charity serving Vanuatu.

Writing: We started our next writing project, an informational research project. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 24. Here is more information about this project. Today, students worked toward selecting their research topic.

Math: Today we continued to practice making equivalent fractions and then adding fractions of unlike denominators.

Here are recent skills that should be finished:

It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.

Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.

Science: We completed an experiment about how speed and friction affect breaking distance. learning about Newton’s laws of motion. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-4 on p. 44.
