Class activities for Wednesday, May 20

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.

Writing: Today, we read a poem about a black cat creeping down a city street. The poem had a lot of imagery and music. Some students thought of animals they could write peoms about. Students also continued to work on their collection of poems, due Friday, May 22.

Math: We worked on fraction skills today in MobyMax Math.

Here are the final topics of 5th grade:

It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.

Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.

Science: Students completed an activity about comparing space objects. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-3 on p. 10 if not finished in class.

Social Studies: Students read more about how the colonists won the Revolution against Great Britain.
