Class activities for Friday, May 22

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a reading skills and AR practice day.

Writing: Today was the final day for students to work on their collection of poems, which is due today.

Math: None today due to a class meeting about gossip and hearsay. Some students and staff members have been complaining that some individuals in our class have been participating in spreading gossip to other people in the school, and it’s been causing problems. Students talked about how they have been hurt by this, and we talked about how students should be talking about helpful and positive things. We’ve been asked, in no uncertain terms, to immediately stop talking about people if they are not a part of the conversation.

Here are the final topics of 5th grade:

It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.

Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.

Science: Students shared their group presentations comparing a fictional planet to earth.

Social Studies: Students completed a MiniQuiz about how the colonists won the Revolution against Great Britain.
