October 7th, 2019
Class activities for Monday, October 7
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 13-15 are available and are due Friday.
Reading: We started a new topic in reading today about learning from science. Today we read some narrative nonfiction stories about motion and gravity.
Writing: Students worked on revising conferences today by adding thought comments and questions to a partner’s writing.
Students also worked on revising today. A personal narrative is due Sunday, October 13. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes.
Math: Students took a final unit test today for the place value topic. Our class mastery percentage ended at 97%! Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: None today due to extra time with writing.
Social Studies: Today was a leader lesson about “Choosing your weather.” This means that a student can choose their actions, attitude, and mood. A proactive person chooses to solve their problems, but a reactive person complains and blames others. They wait to be rescued instead of overcoming the challenge. Students need to know that it won’t work to avoid the problem or ignore it. It’s best to solve the problem while it’s still small.
Character Strength: We are learning about giving other people our attention this week. This is part of the #OtherPeopleMatter mindset.
