  • The wind is strong.
  • Please wind the clock.

Cursive: Cursive pp. 24-26 are available and due Friday.

Reading: We reviewed the idea that fluent readers read with the correct speed, an interesting tone, and volume that helps the listeners to hear the reading. Students practiced this by selecting a passage to read to the class as a monologue. They selected a passage today and practiced reading with speed, tone and volume to themselves and to a partner. Students will perform their monologues to the class tomorrow.

Writing: We talked about writing should use precise nouns in their writing by using words that are specific and help the reader to understand the story. For example:

  • Write rust, not brown stuff,
  • Write instructional manual, not car booklet,
  • Write jack, not thing to lift up the car.

Students also completed prewriting conferences today. Homework is to finish the prewriting conference if not completed in class.
