Class activities for Wednesday, April 17

Spelling: We reviewed homophones and long vowel spelling patterns.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Students received new informational magazines for Literature Circles.

Writing: Students worked on their I-Search research project presentations. This informational project will be due Friday, April 26, when students present their findings during our I-Search Conference. Students should be working on their presentations at this point.

Math: Students completed a MiniQuiz about subtracting mixed numbers.

Science: The class designed and completed experiments to test how the mass of a cart affects the force of a collision. Homework is to finish analysis questions 1-4 on p. 20.

Social Studies: Students completed a test about colonial life.

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: None today due to extra time with social studies.

Writing: Students worked on their I-Search research project presentations. This informational project will be due Friday, April 26, when students present their findings during our I-Search Conference. Students should be working on their presentations at this point.

Math: None today due to a camp cabin meeting.

Science: We reviewed our last experiment about how speed is shown on motion graphs. We also completed a class experiment about how speed affects collisions.

Social Studies: We learned that the Great Awakening helped people change their attitudes toward religion and other people. Citizens stopped paying taxes to the official church and could choose their own. Everyone was treated better, instead of giving special treatment to the powerful and wealthy. Homework  is to finish notebook p. 54. We will have a test tomorrow about colonial life. Here is a practice test for study.

Fifth Grade Camp drop off and pick up times

Monday, April 15th, 2013

Here are our drop off and pick up times for camp this Thursday and Friday:

  • Drop off: 8:50 am
  • Pick up: 12:25 pm

Please try to meet these times as best you can. Each class has a different time to help reduce traffic backups. For pick up, your student must be picked up by someone on their emergency card, or we must have a signed note stating permission for someone else to pick up your student.
