Class activities for Wednesday, February 26
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Cursive workbook pp. 75-77 are due Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: We continued to write a persuasive essay together to remember the four important parts, a paragraph for each:
- Introduction explaining the idea and why it is helpful
- Prove how the idea matches a core democratic value
- Use some data to support the idea
- Restate the idea again and why it should be selected
Students also completed revising conferences today by commenting on another student’s letter. The persuasive letter project (more details here and here’s a checklist) is due Monday, March 3.
Math: Today was a math skills practice day using MobyMax. Homework is to work on MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for 15 minutes or more.
Science: None today due to extra time with social studies.
Social Studies: Students worked on decoding a part of the Preamble of the Constitution to see what it means, why it’s important, and how the government follows through. Homework is to finish the Preamble Notes started in class (the left side of the notes page).
