Class activities for Tuesday, May 27

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Friday.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: None today; we’ll have extra time tomorrow to work on this project. Students are continuing to work with partners on their Find It, Decide It research project. This piece is due Friday, May 30.

Math: We continued practicing fractions today. We used Khan Academy to practice these skills:

Homework is to work on MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for 15 minutes or more, and to level up on the skills listed above if not done in class.

Science: Students dissected owl pellets today to see what was a part of the owl’s food chain. Most students found bones of mice or voles.

Social Studies: We leaned that there are “push” and “pull” factors that lead to people moving to new places. People are usually pushed out by negative factors, and pulled by positive things. We learned that people moved in the US during settlement, to escape slavery, to find factory jobs, and during resettlement of Indians.
