Class activities for Thursday, October 9
Spelling: We practiced identifying common spelling patterns for the /oi/ sound: oi and oy.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: We continued to talk about how important it is to begin sentences differently, and to not use the same beginning word over and over. Variety is more interesting.
Students also worked on publishing today.
A personal narrative is due on Friday, October 10. Your student should be publishing at this time.
Math: We practiced using a models to add and subtract decimals.
Here’s some skills we’ve been working on lately:
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We learned about the parts and function of the digestive system. Homework is to finish the “Dealing with Digestion” review page.
Social Studies: We learned about the Eastern Woodland and Southeast cultural regions today. Homework is to finish social studies notebook sections 3.7-3.8.
