Spelling: Students completed a spelling and skill test today.

Reading: Students planned a project today to share their Literature Circles book with the class. They will work on this project for the remainder of the week.

Writing: We reviewed the idea that saving the best fact or most interesting part for later in the story is a good way to keep the reader’s interest. Our next piece of writing, a fiction story, is due Friday, November 21. Your student should be almost finished with their draft by now.

Math: We learned about using multiplying using the distributive property today. For example, to multiply 53 x 7, the problem can be divided into 50 x 7 and 3 x 7. Doing it that way splits up the 53 into more manageable numbers: 50 and 3.

Students practiced this skill using Khan Academy.
